Our team of architects, engineers, and draftsmen are put through extensive training so that they are able to design within code and tough budgets. All of our people are trained on state and local government requirements with regard to zoning, parking, types of use, fire separations, property line set backs, and bulk square footage limitations.
Before we begin designing, our team performs a thorough code check through an on-line library to immediately sift through pertinent materials and focus on what really matters in order to assure designs are 100% in compliance with jurisdictional requirements.
John Jurewicz AIA, NCARB
As the principal Architect, John has 20 years of experience, specifically in technically complex, specialty projects. He has been actively licensed in Illinois and carries licenses in most of the midwestern States. He teaches part-time BIM technology at Northwestern University's McCormack School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. In his spare time, he and his son are building a hydrogen-fuel cell powered velopod.
Jeff Batka
Jeff is the lead draftsman for A Architects. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 2003 with a Masters in Architecture. He specializes in drafting with Revit and ACAD 2008 and prefers to work on Industrial / mixed use projects. He has had specific training in model building codes, is an ICC certified plan examiner. Before beginning his architecture degree, Jeff worked as an electrical contractor in the role of apprentice.
Jim Schultz
As our senior draftsman and plan checker, Jim specializes in the nitty-gritty details. He is versed in sizing Mechanical equipment, performing thermal envelope loss and load balancing as well as structural and enclosure detailing. He prefers to work on the technical aspects of construction assemblies. In his spare time, he enjoys restoring classic cars.
Bruce
With dual architecture and Structural degress, Bruce is known for his practical solutions. His 30 yrs of experience have given him a sound understanding of codes and budget restraints. He is known by his piers for producing innovative designs and is well versed in 3D modeling and coordination. He is a certified RAM-CAD studio expert and specializes in structural modeling and analysis.
Cheryl
Cheryl is our bookeeper and office manager. She has more than twenty years experience and is recognized for her strong, personal inter-relation skills and for her expertise in Quickbooks. Prior to joining A Architects, she had worked for various developers constructing Pro-formas and cash projections and has a background in estimating and bid solicitation.
Bart Wisniewski
Accredited as a LEED Design Professional, with Masters Degrees in Architecture from both Poznan Univ. in Poland and Hogeschool Brabant in the Netherlands, Bart specializes in BIM design using "Smart Growth" principles of urban spaces. Bart prefers Graphisoft's Archicad software, but is equally comfortable with revit for modeling and loves rendering challenges.
Spencer Woodward
Certified BIM modeler, Spencer is proficient in most modeling programs including Revit 2008, Chief Archiects X.1, Softplan v12, ACAD '08 and Bentley's Architecture. For his hobby, Spence enjoys building computer and tricking out the CADMobile.
